Peggy Melville Scholarship

Peggy Melville and her children are committed to supporting the Haywood County public schools. Currently, a son is teaching in the Haywood County school system. The family realizes the importance of a post high school degree and will provide a scholarship to a high school senior to help achieve this goal. This is a one time $500

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Haywood County Resident
• Graduating High School Senior from public school in Haywood County
• Scholastic Achievement
• Financial Need
• Interest in and concern for the environment (through studies in school and/or efforts in the community to work on issues affecting the environment)
• Participation in physical activities – does not mean the person has to play organized sports but shows some concern and makes an effort to be physically active.

SELECTION PROCESS AND AWARDS
The family of Peggy Melville will be representatives on a committee appointed by the foundation to review the applications. The committee will make a recommendation for the recipient of the scholarship. The selection process shall consist of a review and evaluation of the scholarship application and possibly a personal interview. The Board of Directors of the Foundation will make the final decision on the recipient of this scholarship. The Board’s decision shall be final. The Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt charitable foundation, will administer the scholarship fund.
