The John Chapman, GE Aviation Memorial Scholarship is given each year in remembrance of John Chapman. John was a graduate of Pisgah High School who passed away while employed at GE Aviation. GE is a world-leading provider of commercial, military, avionics, electrical power and mechanical systems for aircraft. This scholarship is given to one student who has taken and performed well in Machining I, II, and III. GE funds this scholarship to help a student pursue a career in machining and industrial technology. This is a one – time $500 scholarship.

SELECTION PROCESS AND AWARDS
The family of John Chapman and the machinist department at Pisgah High School will appoint a committee to review the applications. The committee will review the applications and will make a recommendation for the recipient of the scholarship. The selection process shall consist of a review and evaluation of the scholarship application and possibly a personal interview. The Board of Directors of the Foundation will make the final decision on the recipient of this scholarship. The Board’s decision shall be final. The Haywood County Schools Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt charitable foundation, will administer the scholarship fund.
